About AOOF
Built on Community, Driven by Rights
We are a Kenyan non-profit organization established in 2024, headquartered in Kisumu County, working alongside communities, schools, health providers, and government stakeholders to address systemic barriers affecting vulnerable populations.
Our Story
Why AOOF Exists
Kisumu County is home to remarkable communities, vibrant culture, and enormous human potential. It is also home to some of Kenya’s most acute social challenges: children living and working on the streets, adolescent girls missing school because of menstrual poverty, young people navigating mental health crises without support, and widows facing economic exclusion.
The Abuogo Owino Omboro Foundation was founded in 2024 by individuals who believed that these challenges were neither inevitable nor acceptable. Drawing on lived experience and deep community relationships, AOOF was established to provide an organized, rights-based response to the systemic drivers of vulnerability across Kisumu County.
Since its establishment, the Foundation has grown through community-centered programming designed to address both immediate needs and the structural conditions that perpetuate exclusion. We combine direct service delivery, community mobilization, advocacy, and strategic partnerships to create change that is lasting rather than temporary.
OUR MANDATE
Registered in Kenya and operating across Kisumu County, AOOF focuses on: street-connected children in Kisumu East, local school support, sports for youth mental health resilience, adolescent girls’ hygiene and dignity, and the livelihoods and rights of widows and marginalized women.
SDG Alignment:
SDG 1 — No Poverty
SDG 3 — Good Health & Wellbeing
SDG 4 — Quality Education
SDG 5 — Gender Equality
SDG 10 — Reduced Inequalities
